In 2010, the de la Cruz Collection initiated a residency program inviting artists to Miami for a period of 4 -6 weeks. Mary Ceruti, director of the SculptureCenter,
a non-collecting contemporary art museum in New York, collaborated with the de la Cruz Collection and selected
a group of participating artists for that year.
There were no specific production or presentation requirements. However, it was expected that artists would use the opportunity to further their work. The residency was an opportunity for artists to explore the history, culture and natural resources of South Florida but also an opportunity to connect with the diverse and active art community of South Florida.
About the SculptureCenter:
Founded by artists in 1928, SculptureCenter is a
not-for-profit arts institution dedicated to experimental and innovative developments in contemporary sculpture. SculptureCenter commissions new work and presents exhibits by emerging and established, national and international artists.
