This year, approximately twenty-one Bachelor of Fine Arts students, will participate in a two week travel program to Europe initiated by the de la Cruz Collection. The purpose of this travel program is to enrich the education of art students through exposure to both the national and international art scene. The graduating BFA class will travel to the 54th Venice Biennial and the city of Berlin.
Last year, the travel grant provided the opportunity for the senior class to attend the 6th Berlin Biennial for Contemporary Art, all expenses paid, right after receiving their BFA diploma. From June 9 through June 16, twenty-two students participated in the Biennial which featured sixty world-class artists whose practices vary from animation, painting, still photography, to installation and performance.
This program was made possible with generous contributions made by Carlos and Rosa de la Cruz, in partnership with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Additional support was provided by Diane and Robert Moss and Carole Guest.
