This summer, thirty students from Design and Architecture Senior High School in Miami, Florida will attend a three-week summer pre-college program at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.

This pre-college program provides students an invaluable opportunity to attend classes at the School of Visual Arts, as well as explore all aspects of cultural offerings in New York City, including museum visits, Broadway shows, sports activities, and city tours. The participants were nominated by their teachers based on academic and artistic potential. At the end of the pre-college experience, each student receives college credit, valuable faculty connections, and added important material that strengthened their portfolios.

Since 2010, the Young Designers Scholarship Fund has provided the opportunity to learn, through hands-on experience, technical training and diverse approaches to the creation and presentation of contemporary art.

This program is made possible with generous contributions from Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz (de la Cruz Collection) in partnership with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Additional support provided by Mr. Craig Robins and Mrs. Jackie Soffer, the School of Visual Arts, Mr. Johnny & Mrs. Elizabeth Lopez, Advanced Storage Products, the Key Biscayne Community Foundation, the DASH PTSA, the Taylor and Melissa White Family Fund, the Milstein Hankin Family Foundation, Dr. Stacey Mancuso, Ms. Adrienne Arsht, Dr. Rachel Sondheimer and Mr. Joe Sondheimer, Mr. Larry Apple, Dr. Don Finefrock and Mr. Luis Hernandez, Mr. Randall and Mrs. Coleen Relien, Savino and Miller Design, Mr. William Spratt, Ms. Cecilia Rosler, Ms. Mary Swayze, Ms. Marlene B.
