Senior Architecture and Industrial Design students participated in a rigorous project to design a new school for the Miami Design District along with a Student Transportation Hub within the school. The competition, entitled "Design District / Design School and Transportation Hub," featured scholarship awards sponsored by Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz and The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Students were asked to design building forms and conceptualized modes of transportation, as well as prepare two- and three-dimensional drawings and models.

A total of 47 students received scholarship money for merit and participation. DASH has played a major role in the rebirth of the Miami Design District, and students were asked to treat the new design as a "community center and civic focal point" for the Design District. Local architects and designers juried the student work. This program is made possible with generous contributions from Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz (de la Cruz Collection Contemporary Art Space) in partnership with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
