This summer, 8 students from the Design and Architecture Senior High School in Miami, Florida attended a three-week summer pre-college program at Parsons The New School of Design in New York City.

The Young Designers Scholarship Fund is an exciting, innovative art education initiative funded by Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz (the de la Cruz Collection), Key Biscayne Community Foundation and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Rosenberger. This pre-college program provides students a fully immersive learning experience at Parsons where the city itself serves as an urban design laboratory. They explore all aspects of cultural offerings in New York City, including museum visits, Broadway shows, sports activities, and city tours. Participants of this program are selected by Parsons representatives based on merit and academic achivements. At the end of the pre-college experience, each student will receive college credit, valuable faculty connections, and added important material to strengthen their portfolios.

Since 2010, the Young Designers Scholarship Fund has provided the opportunity to learn, through hands-on experience, technical training and diverse approaches to the creation and presentation of contemporary art.

This program has been made possible with generous contributions from Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz (de la Cruz Collection) in partnership with The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
Additional support provided by Mr. and Mrs. Rosenberger, Adam and Tierney Horne, Key Biscayne Community Foundation and Taylor and Melissa White Family Fund.
