This year, the Architecture and Industrial Design Senior class of the Design and Architecture Senior High School participated in a rigorous project to design a Transit Oriented Development for the Design District. "Transportation Hub for Miami's Design District" is a student competition, with scholarship awards sponsored by Carlos and Rosa de la Cruz and The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Students were asked to design a building form and modes of transportation, as well as prepare two and three-dimensional drawings and models. A total of 45 students received scholarship money for merit and participation. DASH has played a major role in the rebirth of the Miami Design District, and the students were asked to treat the new design as an "architectural generator of movement." Local architects and designers juried the student work.

This program is made possible with generous contributions from
Carlos and Rosa de la Cruz (de la Cruz Collection) in partnership with
the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Additional support has been received from Berluti, DACRA, DASH PTSA, the Franklin Kardonski Senior Foundation Education Fund, Richard Milstein, Eric Hankin and Alex Alvarez of Le Jeune Upholstery and Luxury Attaché.
