In 2013, fifteen Bachelor of Fine Arts graduates and three professors from the New World School of the Arts, participated in a two-week travel program to Europe initiated and sponsored by the de la Cruz Collection and The John S. & James L. Knight Foundation. The purpose of this travel program is to enrich the education of students through exposure to both, the national and international art scene. The graduating BFA class traveled to Italy and visited the cities of Venice, Florence and Rome.

From June 14 through July 1, students were exposed to European culture and experienced first hand the 55th edition of the Venice Biennale, The Peggy Guggenheim Museum, La Accademia and Venetian Palazzos to name a few.

The students also traveled to Padova, Florence, San Gimignano, Siena and Rome to visit historical sites and monuments that are pivotal to understanding western culture.

This program was made possible with generous contributions made by Carlos and Rosa de la Cruz (de la Cruz Collection) in partnership with The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.

Additional support received from Braman Family Foundation Inc., Fred & Carole Guest, Diane & Robert Moss and Aniko Gaal Schott.
