Artists in the exhibition:
Selections from the de la Cruz Collection:
Selections from the de la Cruz Collection showcases a group of women artists who are at the forefront of American painting and sculpture. Contemporary perspectives on monumentality, ownership and portraiture are explored
with a humorous approach. The artists' personal experiences are contextualized within the history of art through the application of traditional practices.
This is the first exhibition in a series curated and organized by the de la Cruz Collection Contemporary Art Space to benefit the students of Nova Southeastern University.
An installation by Polish artist Paulina Olowska will be exhibited in the lobby of the Alvin Sherman Library for the duration of the exhibition. Car Mobile (MP #46), 2009, is an autobiographical work that references the mobiles of Alexander Calder, but is a narrative, more eclectic
kind of mobile.
