The de la Cruz Collection is pleased to announce the second phase of In Process by Miami-based artist Amanda Keeley. A collaborative catalyst, the first phase of In Process cemented a unique partnership between de la Cruz Collection and neighboring Little Haiti Cultural Complex. Keeley installed a temporary screen-printing studio within the de la Cruz Collection the first three months of the exhibition, inviting students from the Little Haiti Cultural Complex to participate in live-printing sessions with her to produce large, screen-printed, linen panel pieces as well as In(k) Process, an exhibition catalog and artist’s book. Both the panels and collective artist’s book documenting the progression of this participatory project will remain installed in the project room for the rest of the year.

In celebration of print culture, Keeley has transformed the live printing studio into an intimate reading room during the second stage of In Process. Keeley’s new, sculptural, tête-à-tête seating piece now anchors the installation. All equipment and supplies from the In Process screen printing facility have been donated to the Little Haiti Cultural Complex for community use as part of both the de la Cruz Collection and EXILE Books’ commitment to educational outreach. The reading room considers the experience of interacting with printed matter. Visitors are invited to explore the panels and books EXILE has curated on site, make use of Keeley’s furniture piece, and engage in creative discourse. EXILE’s selection of artist books will feature publications that explore screen-printing techniques, reflect the cultural diversity of Little Haiti, and represent artists in the de la Cruz Collection’s current exhibition. From its beginning through its end In Process interactively explores the numerous ways artists use the printed medium to communicate, connect, and impact communities.

This exhibition is made possible with the generous support of Rosa and Carlos de la Cruz (de la Cruz Collection) and The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. With additional support from The Little Haiti Cultural Complex, City of Miami, Printed Matter, Inc. and Sonos.
